FAQ

The ADA requires that title II entities (State and local governments) and title III entities (businesses and nonprofit organizations that serve the public) communicate effectively with people who have communication disabilities.

The goal is to ensure that communication with people with these disabilities is equally effective as communication with people without disabilities.

Typically any assignment that is over 1.5 hours in length, requires TWO interpreters.

Interpreting is mentally and physically demanding work, and over time even the most skilled interpreters can experience injuries from repetitive motions and errors due to fatigue.

Having a team of interpreters is industry standard and allows each interpreter to take breaks and recharge while maintaining the quality of interpretation.

Aside from the obvious benefit of easily communicating with one another, there are several ways your business/entity can save when it comes to finding an interpreter.

1. You’re enabling the ease of communication between the Deaf and Hard of Hearing communities and the hearing community.

2. You can write off the expense of interpreting services.

3. The IRS has tax form 8826 for companies that use interpreting services. Visit the link below to learn more and download the most up-to-date version of the form.

Booking interpreting services should be done as soon as possible. This is a fast moving industry, and we want to make sure you have access to an interpreter. We prefer a 48 business hour request, but we’re aware that things can come up without notice.

In general, invoices are due within 30 days of services rendered, unless otherwise stated in the contract.
